Q: What is Keratin straightening?

Keratin straightening is a procedure that infuses natural keratin deep into the hair’s cuticle. Q: How is this different from Thermal or Japanese straightening?

The look is somewhat similar to Japanese straightening, but instead of using “chemical relaxers” to straighten hair, it uses the keratin protein treatment that actually straightens the hair naturally. The treatment leaves the hair silky, shiny, stronger and healthier by improving its condition and restoring resiliency.  Better yet, it weatherproofs hair against flyaway frizz and the effects of moisture.

Q: How long does it last?

It is a semi-permanent procedure that lasts about 10 weeks. Times vary, depending on how porous your hair was before the treatment took place. Repeating the treatment every few months will allow re-treatment of the new growth.

Q: How long does it take to do the procedure?

It can take anywhere from 2-5 hours to perform the service. The longer the hair, the longer the procedure.

Q: What is the actual procedure?

A solution is applied at the scalp and then combed well so that the solution spreads throughout the hair. It is typically done in four sections. Once all four sections have been treated, the hair is blow-dried, then straightened with a flat iron.
